**Sharing Cart 4.4, release 3 is from 5 February 2024. Requires Moodle 4.2 and PHP 8.0** Download here or go to github: https://github.com/donhinkelman/moodle-block_sharing_cart/. Sorry for any confusion: Sharing 4.2 and Sharing Cart 4.3 were skipped here on the Plugins Database. And Sharing 4.4 was an overly ambitious name--it is actually for Moodle 4.3, and requires PHP 8.0. The Sharing Cart is a block that enables sharing of Moodle content (resources, activities) between multiple courses on your site.
Latest release:
5125 sites
1k downloads
190 fans
Current versions available: 6
New version 4.5 is due soon (end of May 2024) which is a complete rework of the plugin. Sorry, but any bugs associated with current release will not be processed. We encourage you the retest the issue after the release of the new version and resubmit the issue.
Sharing cart allows the teacher to copy sections and individual activities into a clipboard (the 'sharing cart'), so the teacher can easily move activities from one course to another without having to go into the "Reuse course" function.

Another common use case for the sharing is to created shared teachers course which a teacher can easily copy her best activities into and and other teaches can reuse those in his own courses.
In addition, items can be collected and saved on the Sharing Cart indefinitely, serving as a library of frequently used course items available for duplication.

The sharing cart is currently maintained by the premium Moodle partner moxis. If you have any specific feature request. feel free to reach out on support@moxis.dk. Don Hinkelman from the Moodle Association of Japan is handling bug discussion, testing and user assistance in either in this forum or the github bug tracker. Please bear in mind this a community-driven plugin with limited resources.

Sharing Cart 3.0 was submitted to Remote Learner for independent vetting and passed May 2016. In versions 3.x, new interface programmed by moxis was added, in addition to 'Section Copy' feature and Postgres compatibility (co-funded by Ulm University, Germany and Sapporo Gakuin University, Japan). Thanks also to Ponlawat Weerapanpisit and other contributors for programming assistance.

    hi everyone.
I like very much sharing cart. I would like to know if there is a way to copy to cart topics and then use their alias in other courses. I will explain: I have lots of topics that are used in several courses so i created all the topics of my courses under a category i called MASTER COURSES. These topics have resources and alias to files that i have in a repo i created. When i create a course template, i add from the sharing cart only the topics i need from this spesific course. The problem is that when i go to the MASTER COURSE to change description, add or remove resources ecc. it has no refresh or update button that updates all the copied topics in the course templates. Is there a way to copy the alias of a topic into sharing cart or to use in several courses? or a button that updates all copied instances of a topic or a resource? Thanks for your help

    Hello,

I have SC 3.8 installed on Moodle 3.6.6, should there be the "Copy to sharing Cart" Icon next to every activity ? Or can I only copy entire Sections/Topics and then i can individually move activities to other courses from the Copied Section ?

    Hi !

We have recently installed the sharing cart plugin on Moodle 3.8. Admins and Managers can use sharing cart easily however teachers when they try to copy something to sharing cart get this error: "error/setting_locked_by_permission".

I could not find the permission in questions though I have reviewed all permissions for the editingteacher profile.

    Please help.

    Regards

    Hello Deepak,

I had the same issue ("error/setting_locked_by_permission") and I've fixed it by turning the permission "moodle/backup:configure" on "Allow".

    Regards

Hi Jari, items copied to the Sharing Cart stay there forever. That is why we made Bulk Delete, so that it is easier to remove a large number of items in the Cart. You see my Sharing Cart, over 100 items, so I have to empty it from time to time

Hi, we are upgrading from 3.5 to 3.9 and would like to continue use of this plugin. Will it work on 3.9 or are there plans to release a version for 3.9?

Hi Clare, we anticipate Sharing Cart 3.8 will work in Moodle 3.9. Just waiting for someone to install it and report any issues in our github. https://github.com/donhinkelman/moodle-block_sharing_cart

    Hi Don:

I recently upgraded to the latest version of Moodle 3.8.4+ (Build: 20200717), and installed the latest Sharing Cart Release 10--I'm able to copy in the Sharing Cart (I'm the site admin and also teach several courses), but I'm not able to copy out of the Sharing Cart into a Course section like I normally can.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Thank you for your hard work on this, and the Sharing Cart is a fantastic plugin that really helps teachers share their work and rapidly develop their courses in an elegant, intuitive fashion!

Sounds like Hotel California--check in any time you like... but you can never copy out. This may be due to a theme or a course format. Could you go to github, and make a Issue there, describing your theme, course format, Moodle version, SC version, and also browser information. Did you use Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc. That would help. https://github.com/donhinkelman/moodle-block_sharing_cart

Joseph Liaw, would you mind turning on your debugging messaging for a moment and see if you get the same error that I get when I attempt this on Moodle 3.9? I get the message "Fatal error: Class 'backup_execution_step' not found in /data/shares/vcc/moodle-3.9/backup/moodle2/backup_stepslib.php on line 33"

I have checked the backup_stepslib.php files in the latest Moodle 3.9, in the Beta version (where I had no problem) and in 3.8, and there's no difference at all between them.

I just installed the latest version of Moodle 3.9 my local computer and am not getting the error.
I would love it if Joseph could run the debugger and report any error messages to see if they are the same as mine.
I wonder if it has anything at all to do with this versioning that is beyond my level of understanding:
    PHP: 7.2.31-1+ubuntu16.04.1+deb.sury.org+1
    MySQL: 5.7.29-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

Hi Don and Blair: I got it figured out...we are running the very innovative and forward-looking Snap theme--has a very intuitive and and user-friendly UI, but doesn't always work well with blocks. I turned on the URL theme hack so that a teacher can add in "?theme=classic" to temporarily switch to the Classic theme, and then they can add in "?theme=Snap" to go back--not ideal, but it works.

The new Sharing Cart is fantastic!!! Love the folder feature to help teachers stay organized, and the bulk copy and delete feature is brilliant. Thanks for your follow up and sharing your hard work with the Moodle Community!
