Hello Jackie. I think the documentation Preferences#Roles refers to managers or admins checking the roles of users such as teachers or students and not to authenticated users being able to check theirs. I tried to look for the specific capabilities for this but didn't find them (although I did find an interesting partially related forum post: Allow role permisson to modify user preferences [...].

Hello Sonia. Just to clarify 3 and 4 - I think you mean labels (Text field is the German for label). When you say "collapsible label" though I am not sure what you mean- perhaps a plugin?
