Adaptable is a highly customisable responsive two column theme based on the popular BCU theme. Adaptable has all the features of BCU along with many new features:

  • Front page Marketing Blocks. You can display Up to 60 custom blocks with different layout.
  • Layout Builders! You can now define a custom layout to add blocks using drag and drop for:
    • Front Page
    • Footer
    • Dashboard
    • Course Page NEW!
  • Fully Customisable:
    • Fonts
    • Colors
    • Block styles (including icons)
    • Buttons (including radius)
  • Choice of two sliders on home page with custom colours
  • News / Announcements Ticker on Home / Dashboard
  • Multiple front page course styles
  • Extensive custom menus (can be targeted to different users based on custom profile field)
  • "My Courses" list can be organised to put older courses in sub menu item
  • Dismissible Bootstrap Alerts
    • Display site-wide notices using different Bootstrap styles
    • Allow users to dismiss alerts once read (persistent between page loads / login)
    • Allow re-use of alerts (display again even if user has dismissed) buy updating a "key" field
  • Additional layout settings for width, slider width, padding of various elements
  • Social icons or Search box in header (admin can choose between the two)
  • Activities and Resources Adaptable icon pack improved NEW!
  • Support for Social Wall Course Format (thanks to Chris Kenniburg for help on this)
  • Support for Grid Course Format (thanks to Gareth J Barnard for help on this)
  • Mobile settings
  • Option to add login form in header on front page
  • Favicon uploader
  • Background image uploader

In addition many fields (menus, news items, alerts and help links) can be targeted using custom profile fields, thus it is possible to present different users with different nagivation items and notices.

It is also possible for individual users to customise where they want top menu navigation to appear (disable, home pages only, sitewide) using custom profile fields.

Adaptable has a lot of settings and may seem daunting at first, our advice is to simply install with the default settings and play with it afterwards.

With a little time you should be able to setup an attractive Moodle site with a high degree of individuality without without knowing any CSS.

    Hello!
I like this topic with BSU, but in the last issue there is one problem.
In the version of Adaptable 1.4 (2017053000) for moodle 3,3, only the PREVIOUS SESSION works in the navigation from the topic to the topic, and NEXT SESSION does not appear at all.

I love this theme especially the new 'background header image' option, but the course header title feature is annoying. it is only supposed to take effect when the site is using the moodle default site title and not, as I understand it, if I have a custom title. After updating the plugin, the course title was appearing in the header, in spite of the fact that my header preferences are set to use a custom title. I've found out how to turn it off now, so I only get my custom title, but still quite jarring when first encountered although I can see how the feature might be useful.

For some reason the Grid Format https://moodle.org/plugins/format_grid is not working.
It shows all the course material on the first grid and the other grids are completely blank.

    Hello,
Under moodle 3.2.1, I use the plugin block_course_search_moodle26_2014040200 under the 1.3 adaptable theme without problem.
Since the transition to version 1.4 of adaptable and I notice that the plugin works more correctly.
Indeed after typing the name in the search area, I get the enormous icon (see appendix), associated with page titles that do not correspond to the expected result.
Is it possible to fix the problem quickly or find a workaround?
Is it possible to go back (previous version of the theme) or find another plugin allowing the search in a course?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
How do you remove the wording which comes after the logo on the header

At the moment the coding says -
    <?php
    // Site title or logo.
    echo $OUTPUT->get_logo_title();
    ?>
What can i put instead to remove the title and keep the logo...

    Thanks
    Mark

Thank you for the theme! And the included documentation on how to migrate from BCU to Adaptable. This gave me the ability to update our Moodle site that was very out of date and unsecured. With the new theme I was able to update the Moodle site to current 3.3+ with the Adaptable theme working and begun my personal customization thanks to you all. Thank you!

The new forced icons are not good, especially compared to the original moodle icons. After deleting the folder to go back to the original icons some of them are blurred. Please keep the original icons or at least build in a working option to turn the new ones off.

    Hi,
We are about to use SAML2 for authentication but we get the following error when we use the Adaptable theme: The requested URL /auth/saml2/sp/module.php/core/postredirect.php was not found on this server. Does anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it? It only seems to occur on this theme and every other theme works just fine but I can't see what makes this one handle sessions differently.

I like to have the global search field in the header like in the theme boost. Is this possible with the theme adaptable?
    Thanks Jürg
