Michael, so I see! Somehow I was mistaken about the multiple instances and customizability. John, thanks for the tip, I'll have a look at that plugin.

    Hi Michael,
Great plugin ( I was slow to appreciate it but love it now). I have a situation (feature?? Problem??) with unmarked assignment re-attempts. They show as failed even though the assignment has been resubmitted and not yet marked. Am I missing something?

This occurs with or without the save and submit settings.

    Hi Michael.

We recently upgraded our Moodle to version 3.5. However, after this upgrade the Completion Progress changed the way it worked. We use this plugin to track students' progress in several self-assessment tests. In previous versions we tracked whether the student completed the test with atleast 75% success (indicated with a GREEN colored block), failed to achieve the minimum 75% (indicated with the RED colored block) or didn't take the test all (indicated with the BLUE colored block).

However, after upgrading Moodle, after the student takes the test and fails it the plugin doesn't indicate it by coloring the block RED. The block that represents the failed self-assessment test remains BLUE. It's like it does not register the attempt at all. Is this a feature that was changed, is it a problem with the new version of Moodle or is there something else that is causing this problem?

    Looking forward for you assisstance,
    Danijel

    Hi, Danijel.

Perhaps there has been a change in the completion system. The block hasn't changed.

Hello. The completion progress block is wonderful.
But I cannot select students with the button select all and I cannot send a mensagem. When I choose this option nothing happens. Can you help me? Thank you in advance.

Hi Michael - are you still maintaining this plugin? - there are quite a few pull requests that would be really good if you could merge - 3.5 privacy api class missing (causing unit test failures) - and the other pull requests related to unit tests... We use CI processes for our sites and because your code causes unit test failures we are needing to maintain custom versions of your plugin to support our clients.

    Hi, Dan.

It's good to hear from you. I have been trying to keep up with version changes, but I don't watch Git issues or requests and I can see there are a few there. I'll see what I can do over the coming week. (I thought I had the Privacy API sorted.)

Firstly I love this plugin and find it really useful, however may I suggest a possible improvement?

At the moment when a student submits an assignment the block goes from blue to yellow. If the assignment is then graded by the tutor and is deemed not a pass the item turns red (so far so good), however when the student then resubmits their work this item remains red - what would be really good would be if it turned back to yellow, to indicate to the tutor that it needs marking again. Would this be a possible improvement?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Michael,

It would be really good if we could get the ability to both message and add notes back which were present before. I saw your comments about having to pull this out above but wondered if you have made any further progress on this?

I assume you have seen in 3.4+ you have the ability to select users and message them from the participants list within a course. I was wondering if it would be feasible to hook into that process as it is essentially the same kind of feature, although you do not have the ability to send individual messages to each user which from memory was a feature of progress bar.

    Hi Michael

If I have activities listed in a hidden weekly section, but students can currently still access these activities through the completion block. How can I stop this from happening without manually having to set restrictions on the individual activities? (It's much faster to hide them in the section).

    Thanks for a great plugin!

    Hi Michael

Your plugin shows how far through the unit and what parts they have done. Brilliant!

Do you have a plugin that will allow teachers to see how much progress has been made in each part of the unit?

For example, some of our lessons within a unit take 4-5 hours as there is a lot to do. Teachers are asking if there is a way they can see how far through the lesson the student students are.

Replying to Al Metcalfe: To see progress within a topic, the checklist plugin may be what you want, easy to have one of these in each of the topics, then use the Completion Progress bar to track the checklists rather than each and every item in the course.

    Hi, all.

Flemming: On the overview page, you will see the progress as students see it. If the activities are hidden from students, their bar will be empty.

Al: The block will show progress across the whole course. You could build in access settings so it is revealed as students progress through the course.

Stuart: The block relies on the activity's visibility. That old trick of hiding activities in a hidden section won't stop students getting to them if they have the link. You'll need to hide each activity.

Jez: You need to use the reattempts mechanism in Assignment. The block looks at the latest attempt.

Thanks Michael, but my problem is that I don't see any students when I click "Overview of Students" I have 30 active students in the course, but they do not show here.

I have many other courses where it works just fine, and the students are shown when I click "Overview of Students." But in a few it doesn't show students. I have tried to compare settings but can't see any differences.

    Thanks again
    Flemming
