Use Cases

Content Creation

Teachers can make learning resources quickly and easily by recording directly in Moodle or dragging and dropping media files from the desktop. Regardless of the file format, Poodll quickly and reliably converts all media and display it to students. In language learning, Poodll for Atto enables teachers to create listening resources for their students. In general learning contexts, teachers can record/upload instruction or example videos for the students to follow when completing their assignments.

Peer Collaboration

Liven up forums by replacing written entries with audio and video recordings from the students. Language learners can practice speaking and pronunciation skills while providing listening content for their peers. Great for fully online courses.

Getting Started

Poodll Anywhere for Atto requires the Poodll Filter.

  1. Download and install the Poodll Filter. Be sure to read the support documentation.
  2. Visit: https://poodll.com/try-poodll and take a free trial

Then you can install Poodll for Atto as usual from the Moodle plugins directory. Please see the Poodll for Atto support documentation for more information on installing and using Poodll for Atto.

After installation, it may not appear on the Atto toolbar immediately and you will need to visit:

Site administration / Plugins / Text editors / Atto HTML editor / Atto toolbar settings

Right near the bottom of the page, beneath the list of plugins find the "Toolbar Config" textbox. There, probably on the "files" line add the word "poodll".
That line will then look something like this:

files = image, media, poodll

I tried to record with the http://demo.poodll.com server and occured the same problem. I want to install this plugin in order to use in the company's corporative school. We have a lot of courses in our school, and this plugin would be great! It is a goverment company, maybe it's firewall is blocking que server or something like that.

My moodle is not accessible from other machines on my network. It is a local instalation, in order to make some tests. We work with Moodle 1.9 and i installed the Moodle 2.7 in my machine to test some plugins. Oh, I forgot to tell that we use ubuntu 14.02.

Could you help me (if it's not "asking too much") with the local installation of red5 + poodll?

    Hi,
I am very interested in this plugin.
I am currently using version 2.9. How would the plugin work if I installed it?

The documentation for installing it is on this page. ie https://moodle.org/plugins/view/atto_poodll
Make sure you have the PoodLL filter installed too. I have not tested on Moodle 2.9 yet, but not expecting any problems.

This is a fantastic plugin. I'm having some trouble with the audio recorder though. I've changed the settings around in a variety of ways but the longest I've managed to get it to record something is 20 seconds. Any suggestions? The video recorder seems to work perfectly and can record long clips with audio as well so it's a bit strange.

Also, I can confirm that it works on 2.9.

Ah ... this sounds very much like you have "suhosin" running on the server. Suhosin is a PHP extension that for security reasons truncates long post submissions. The MP3 recorder, "posts" submissions to the server, and the other recorders do not. (Actually this will change soon ... good) . For now the best thing is to either disable suhosin, or configure it to allow bigger uploads. See this forum post: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=278633

    Dear Justin,
I had tested the module "poodll anywhere" ,it's very good for me.
But I think it will be better if you add the function of screen snapshot (or screen recording).
The screen snapshot maybe comprises full screen and selected portion.
Could you add a new function for the module "poodll anywhere" ?
Thank you very much for your selfless sharing.

Has anyone else had trouble using the audio on this plug-in with Moodle version 2.8.9 and Flash Player 19? It was working great until we did a minor Moodle upgrade. To be honest, I'm not sure if the problem was caused by the Moodle update or Flash Player update.

    Good afternoon,

Since the plug NanoGong no longer supports versions of Moodle 3.0 and above, it has opted to use on platforms that administer the functionalities of Poodll plugin.

I installed everything about this plugin:

    - Filter
    - Publishers TinyMCE and Atto
    - Assignments and feedback
    - dataField
    - Types of questions
    - Repository

The installation has been successful. I set up a few things as I read in the documentation of possible problems with PoodLL

    poodll.com/documentation/1.0/9/troubleshooting-poodll/

He made some changes suggested in this documentation the most important problem facing me is as follows:

When I create a actvidad like "tag" when editing the label and add content audio recording makes me correctly, but when playing it, I get the error "file not found".

Any clue where to look why is this happening?

All other options, video recording, drawing, take a picture function properly.

    Thanks in advance.

We're seeing an issue with "Record MP3" in the Flash player pop-up - we're unable to select Allow/Deny. This is tested in both Firefox version 48.0 and Chrome version 52.0.2743.82, on both Windows 7 and Mac OSX 10.11.

When using the Video recorder, we're able to select Allow.

There is a workaround in Firefox where you can right-click, then click "Global Settings", then "Camera and Mic" tab, then "Camera and Microphone Settings by Site" and add your url to the list.

    Specs: Moodle 3.0.3; atto_poodll 1.0.6 (2015121102); filter_poodll 2.8.5 (2015121106)

    Thanks again.
