Da stellt sich schnell die Frage, wie es um den Datenschutz bestellt ist, gerade wenn es sich bei den Betroffenen um Minderjährige handelt.

Was sagt die deutsche Moodle-Community dazu?

Just a reminder that the PHP CLI version and the CGI module for Apache are unconnected. They could have different versions.

1) I'd like to setup a MOOc-like elearn platform that will enable instructors to setup,sell their courses and/or provide web-coaching. I don't think the default Moodle can do this. I assume that the instructors should be able to work isolated from one another. That calls for some sort of a multi-tenancy, which core Moodle is not. I don't get your point. What is the problem the "world outside the academic world in private sector (and outside of british or american schooling system too...)" has, which will be solved by extending the session timeout beyond 4 hours?
