Fordson Theme assistance?

Fordson Theme assistance?

We are trying to set up the Fordson theme for teachers who must do complete training.

We are using the marketing tiles for the information they need. The first would hold all information to get started. We would like to hide the other times until they complete everything under the getting started tile. Is this possible? Or better accomplished with courses? TIA!

Hi Jessi,

So if I understand you correctly, you want a user to complete the one course before they can access the other courses? If so, this can be done with Moodle's "course completion" setup. You can set up criteria for a users to complete one course to gain access to another course, or you can use a plugin called "Sub Courses" to create something similar.

Course completion settings link: https://docs.moodle.org/310/en/Course_completion_settings#Condition:Completion_of_other_courses
Sub courses plugin link: https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_subcourse

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Giovanni!

So for the marketing tiles, should we just opt out of using those? They wanted the information on what to complete in the marketing tile. Once they did everything in the "Start Here" tile, they wanted "Professional Development" to open up.

It sounds like using courses to do this would be best, if I am understanding correctly?

Pleasure.

I have worked with Fordson a few times and the flow you are describing is not going to work on those tiles. You will have to user courses and it sounds like the "Sub Courses" plugin will work well for this.

Hi Jessi,

Just a thought on this... The use case you're describing is:

A participant has to follow a number of courses in a specific order (A, then B, then C) and shouldn't have access to B and C until the previous one has been completed.

Have you seen this plugin enrolment method by Renaat Debleu: https://moodle.org/plugins/enrol_coursecompleted

That should do the trick!

Thank you! They really want to use the marketing tiles for some reason but it looks like it may not work for this and the enrolment method is the way to go.
