I am using Moodle 3.4 and looking into bulk enrolment & group assignment for students.

I've been reading online and found the below method to enrol students & assign groups.

Enrol the Students

In the Settings block on your course, under Course administration, click Users > Bulk enrolments.

However in the course admin block for my Moodle i see no Bulk enrolment option, did I miss something?

Courseamind

Really appreciate any help. Thanks!

I think the clue might be at the bottom of the page.

I believe this page is talking about an optional plugin, although I agree that it is less than clear. See https://moodle.org/plugins/local_bulkenrol

Right at the bottom... it says "category: plugin". That's what gave me the clue!

This plugin is only for bulk enrollment. There is no group assigning option.

Quoting from the plugin's GitHub page (https://github.com/moodleuulm/moodle-local_bulkenrol/blob/master/README.md)

Optionally, the teacher will be able to create groups and add the enrolled users to the groups. All he has to do is to add a heading line with a hash sign and the group's name, separating the list of users.

Example:

# Group 1
alice@example.com
bob@example.com
# Group 2
carol@example.com
dave@example.com

Is this what you are looking for?

Does this mean moodle 3.4 does not have any bulk enrol by default?

Yes - you can do it through the (site) admin pages but this isn't any use if you only have teacher access in courses.

Moodle still doesn't have this in core.

I found the site admin pages to do bulk uploading of users.
I have existing users and need to assign groups for them, what is the format to do it?
