You must use an approved version of Safe Exam Browser to attempt this quiz?

We get this message when we are trying to make a quiz in Moodle 2.8 and in Moodle 3.0. If we are using a later version of Safe Exam Browser such as 2.1.1 or 2.1.2 we can not open the quiz. If we are using safe exam browser 2.1 we are able to run the quiz. Why is that and what can we do to make sure the quiz is working with safe exam browser? On May 9th our students will use Safe Exam browser for the first time in a course.

For questions about SafeExamBrowser, you are generally likely to get a better answer from the SEB forums: https://sourceforge.net/p/seb/discussion/3704033/

However, I do know that answer to this question.

The whole point of the 'Browser exam key' setting is that it verifies that the student is running SEB with your configuration file, and it also verifies which version of the SEB software is being run. Therefore, when you upgrade the SEB software, the key will change, and you will have to update the settings in the Moodle quiz with the new value.

(Sorry, I don't think I have explained that very well.)

Hej! Thank you for your answer. I think you explained very well! smile

We always used the latest key in our configuration file. So now I get another question. If even though we opened and saved the file in the latest version of SEB will it impact that the original configurationfile was build from an earlier version of SEB?

I might follow your advice later on with the forum about SEB ( https://sourceforge.net/p/seb/discussion/3704033/) wink

That is a good question, and I don't know.
