Summary:
Which video format should I use in Moodle activities (e.g. html5) and what software (e.g. VideoStudio Pro X8) do users recommend to record these videos to ensure good usability across devices and operating systems, particularly basic iPhone users.

I am looking for a reasonably priced video solution and approach that is compatible with as many mobile and desktop users as possible (and also on the Moodle App, if possible). I'd like to avoid any poor UX approaches such as users having to install plug-ins, browsers, enabling features, etc. So, I'd like to know (1) what software to buy/download and use and (2) what format to export. My research so far has led me to use VideoStudio Pro X8 and export to html5 as a best solution.
My sense (unconfirmed) is that html5 typically uses neither javascript nor flash so will basically work on anything but has less functionality than most SCORM packages. So that is not a great answer, but a sufficient one. Sounds like there may exist SCORM approaches that don't use flash, and the best answer I have to this so far was this previous post (https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=152379) but these seem a bit too technical or unverified. VisualStudio can screen record, has good reviews, and is affordable. We're not doing a whole lot on that end so it seems more than enough for my needs.
Thanks!
Tom
