Hello,

I' completly new to Moodle, I'm going to have videos attached to my courses, I'd like to force the students to watch at them entirely.

More precisely I'd like to:

  1. Block controls (forward and rewind) and show other controls (play/pause/stop/volume/full screen)?
  2. If a a student log off and come back, I'd like when he came back to set the viedo to the place it was when he left off.
  3. Force the student to see al the videos before a quiz

I found a similar question posted in 2010.

The answer of 2010 suggested to use Jwplayer (http://www.jwplayer.com/)

Thank you.

Hello Fabio,

I don't know of any way to "force the students to watch a video entirely". Well not quite, there is a way to do that illustrated in the film "A clockwork orange", but I doubt it would suit your needs big grin

Even if you use a player that force the video to be played entirely you students can very well use Twitter or Facebook in another window while the video is playing (and if you use a secured browser, they can do that with their smartphone). They can also leave their computer and do other things while the video is playing.

Maybe a more pedagogical method would be to do so that answers to the quiz are in the movie, so that student that don't see the movie can't answer quiz questions ? But even that can be easily defeated if students can exchange answers.

Thank you Jean-Michel, and and Thank you Mary,
I perfectly agree with you, but unfortunately sad I work in Italy, the homeland of bureaucracy.
I need to force the student to see all the contents, before submitting an exam.
At the moment I'm paying for use an Italian proprietary platform, but I'd like dismiss it.

With this platform I can force the student to see all the video I publish.
This functionality now is obtained in the folloing way:
- I upload a power point file
- The system let me choose some paramter (for instance the time for showing each slide, before that time the student can't see the next slide)
- The power point file is processed by the system and the output is a .swf file
- The student can't submittig his exam before seeing all the slide.
- If the student log off, the system at the next login can rember the last seen slide.

This "banal" functionality is essential for the sector in which i work (public sector).

May be "A Clockwork Orange" could be the right solution.
Thank you for yours replies.

Fabio.
