Lightbox Gallery

Activities ::: mod_lightboxgallery
Maintained by Andrew Hancox, Adam Olley
This resource allows you to create 'Lightbox' enabled image galleries within your Moodle course. As a course teacher, you are able to create, edit and delete galleries. Smallthumbnails will then be generated, which are used for the thumbnail view of the gallery.

Clicking on any of the thumbnails brings that image into focus, and allows you to scroll through the
gallery at your leisure. Using the Lightbox scripts creates nice transition effects when loading and
scrolling through the images.

There is a setting in Advanced section whether to Display full caption text. When set to No caption text is trimmed on both places - gallery and enlarged image. When set to Yes, full caption text is displayed both in the gallery and when image is enlarged. It will be great to have choice to display full caption text only when image is enlarged and not in the gallery so could look tidy.

Hi, I use latest version of Moodle and lightbox gallery. Suddenly, when working with a file, I received a diagnostic
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 49152 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/ on line 302
    Thank you in advance

Trying to use Lightbox gallery to upload Infographic posters (A3Size) for students to view or even download. But it has restrictions in uploading the specified size. Any suggestions to work around that? Would really be grateful for any help in this regard. Thanks

sheetal p: there are several places you need to make sure are set to allow the file size you want.

    Perhaps this could help:

When the lightbox galery is opened, the course short name appears in the header. It doesn't happen with other activities/resources, there is always the course full name.
    Is it a small bug?
  • Thu, Jun 3, 2021, 1:12 PM
@Csaba Gloner: I wouldn't call it a bug per se. But it's definitely inconsistent with other activity modules. So I've updated the code for it in github. The next release will have that fix included.

Can I ask - how does a teacher delete photos from the gallery? I cannot see how this is done, and is an obvious requirement, as what if a student (or staff) uploads images that are inappropriate or break copyright?
  • Mon, Oct 11, 2021, 6:58 AM
Students don't normally have upload access on a lightboxgallery. That aside - after using the 'turn editing on' button, you can select 'delete' from the edit action under any given picture.

Thanks Adam - I hadn't worked out that I needed to have editing turned on to be able to delete. All good now.
