Poodll is a toolbox of features for Moodle, including audio and video recording, whiteboards, media players for the classroom and widgets such as tabs and stopwatches. Poodll was designed for language learners and teachers, though its so flexible that it is used in many other contexts too.

 Audio and Video Recorders
The Poodll audio and video recording system is highly advanced technically and pedagogically. It uses HTML5 recorders where it can and falls back to older technology if necessary. Different HTML5 recorder skins are available for different purposes (or just for appearance) and all recordings are converted to a format that can be played back universally. There are no time limits, unless you want them, and they work on mobile devices too.

Whiteboards
Poodll includes whiteboards that can be used by the teacher for content creation, or by students when submitting assignments or forum posts. Use them for annotating diagrams or photographs, or just at your own creative whim.

Players for the classroom
Poodll has lots of different audio and video players. Some play back just once (or twice, or three times), some have interactive captions, some are tiny, and some popup. If you need a different type of player, just let us know.

Widgets
Poodll includes an extremely powerful templating system that powers both the players and widgets. This allows Poodll to bundle a truly amazing array of widgets. There are:
  • Tabs and accordians for displaying content
  • Text to speech widgets powered by Amazon Polly
  • Lightboxes for displaying images and videos
  • Dictation widgets
  • Syntax highlighters for programming languages
  • QR code makers and readers
  • Flashcards
  • Stopwatches/timers
    ...... and more

  • PoodLL for Atto
  • PoodLL for TinyMCE

    I am unable to install this module in v 2.8.5. When I try to drag the zip file to the window in "Install Plugin", it comes back with a message box saying "Error: A required parameter (sesskey) was missing" and I am unable to proceed. Please advise.

    The download is not working for me. It always stops downloading after 3 to 10 seconds between 1MB and 4MB. I was only able to download an old version of the filter. Untortunately this was too old to use the other plugin that require this one.

    Hi Robert (and everyone) , this usually occurs because there is a timeout. Before you install please read carefully this page. It covers the basics of getting PoodLL installed and running. https://poodll.com/poodll-3-docs/getting-started . Note also I can't post images or edit posts or other fun stuff here, so if possible post issues in the forum: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/view.php?id=8143 .

    Hi Poodll Team

    We have a problem.
    When we record a sound or video it takes about 15 - 20 minutes for poodll to convert the file and play it.
    The site is located in Denmark EU and we use the standard tokyo server. Is there a poodle cloud server in the EU that might be faster for us to use.?
    Keep up the good work
    Kind regards

    There is no server in the EU. We might put one there, but you will need to be on Poodll 3 I think

    Good Morning

    On the Moodle platforms that I manage, I have installed and configured the modules related to POODLL for more than a year. Since last October 31, I have problems when inserting a video using POODLL, either in a task or in a description of an activity. I have activated the debug mode of one of the platforms I work on, and this is the error stack when inserting a video:

    Notice: cURL request for "http://tokyo.poodll.com:443/poodll/snapshot.jsp?poodllserverid=poodll&filename=272307633887976.png&caller=http%3A%2F%2Fwww3.gobiernodecanarias.org%2Fmedusa%2Feforma%2Fcampus" failed, HTTP response code: HTTP / 1.1 500 Internal Server Error
    line 1354 of /lib/filelib.php: call to debugging ()
    line 1369 of /lib/filestorage/file_storage.php: call to download_file_content ()
    line 1003 of /filter/poodll/poodllfilelib.php: call to file_storage-> create_file_from_url ()
    line 3672 of /filter/poodll/classes/poodlltools.php: call to instance_remotedownload ()
    line 3397 of /filter/poodll/classes/poodlltools.php: call to filter_poodll \ poodlltools :: fetchVideoSplash ()
    line 2553 of /filter/poodll/classes/poodlltools.php: call to filter_poodll \ poodlltools :: fetchFlowPlayerCode ()
    line 565 of /filter/poodll/filter.php: call to filter_poodll \ poodlltools :: fetchSimpleVideoPlayer ()
    line? of unknownfile: call to in /var/www2/medusa/eforma/campus/lib/weblib.php on line 3111
    Unknown exception related to local files (Can not fetch file form URL)

    From what you can see, there are problems with the Tokyo server that Poodll uses to convert and insert the videos. Does something happen with this server? How can I fix the problem? Many users use this tool daily, so I have many users who do not know what to do.

    The version of moodle that we are in is version 3.1.1. And I use the Poodll 2 modules, the free version.

    Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi Eduardo, I checked the server and its recording ok and accessible via the ports and URL that you are using. The reported error is to do with the snapshot feature where we automatically generate a poster image for the video from the first frame of the video. There is a setting in the Poodll filter settings to turn that off. Please try that and see if it helps.

    Poodll2 and video recording via Red5 are not technologies that will work forever. Please look at Poodll3 which supports HTML5 recording when you have a chance.

    Hi Moodle

    We suddently after updating to Moodle 3.3.3+ (Build: 20171201) get this error - ReferenceError: ip is not defined, in the Create media file window. https://www.screencast.com/t/AxrDruqt
    We click the camera to create media, then we allow the use of integrated camera, and microfone, then press record, and then the error appears.

    I have been over all the settings, but none seems to be altered, so it should be standard settings.

    Hi Henrik. Its a bug with the video recorder for the plain recorder skin and we just released a fix a few hours ago here on Moodle.org. Once that shows up in your Moodle updates, please download it. In the meantime, or even just for a better looking recorder, if you use the OneTwoThree recorder instead of the plain recorder, you won't have this problem. You can change that setting in the Poodll filter general settings page

    Hi Kumar

    You need the Poodll filter for the other Classic Poodll plugins. It is a dependency. The version number in your post is really old though. If you can not get it working contact Poodll support at https://poodll.com/contact or visit the support pages at https://support.poodll.com/

    Glad you figured it our Adam. You need a long php_max_execution time (300s is good) for those who don't know.
