Morecandy

Morecandy has the added ability for Admins to add a Carousel slide-show to the site topic area, and also within the topic areas of the course pages. The individual images can be uploaded using the Text Editor, so this makes it easier for Admins and Editing teachers.

My intention for this theme is to keep building on it and add 'more candy' such as a 'dropdown' hidden block region like Aardvark Post-IT had, Marketing blocks, and other functionality.

You  can add marketing spots in any section of the frontpage where there is either a 'Welcome note' or a 'Footnote' area in the Morecandy setting's page.

The HTML is pretty simple: This adds two sections to the page wherever you wish to add them.

    Hi Mary:

I just upgraded from Moodle 1.9 to 3.1 over the three day weekend. Morecandy works great. I am trying to catch up with all the new features etc. On the front page of the old version I used labels to identify my faculty. One label for each with a small photograph. I have about ten of these. BUT in Morecandy the photographs all display icon sized similar to the "separator icon" shown on your diagram in the documentation. I tried hand coding with various html syntax and in all cases the photos in each label display as an icon size. If I use a label inside any course it works fine with the photograph sized properly adjacent to the text. Thus I confirmed that my HTML syntax to display a photo full sized works on any label inserted anywhere except on the front page. Then I placed an HTML block on the first page and used the identical HTML in the block, and again it displayed properly. I changed themes to Clean and More and each faculty photo displays properly in a label in the center of the front page. So I have more or less isolated this down to a nuance of the label when used only in the center of the front page and only with the Morecandy theme. I suspect there is CSS code somewhere that translates all photographs to "separator icon" size and my photographs of faculty become icons instead of normal sized photos. Tomorrow I will take a look at the theme code to see if there is anything obvious I can tinker with. Meanwhile any suggestions you might have would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
    Thanks for using Morcandy!
There was an issue with Frontpage images which I thought I had fixed.
Which version of Morcandy did you install?
I need to recheck as it looks like that bug is still there!

    Hello,
I have a problem with this theme in Moodle 2.9: After installing the teme, I can't see language menu beside logo? Everything in the language settings is set up properly, so I think there's a problem with your theme.

    Hello Mary,
I'm currently running the Morecandy theme on a 3.3.1 Moodle install. Love it. Want to upgrade to Moodle 3.4.1 but the Morecandy theme does not show as available for 3.4. Will it be updated soon or would the 3.3 version still work on the upgrade?

Hi Mary, how are you doing? I hope it's ok.
I'm upset this time to ask you if you plan to update this theme to Moodle 3.5. Because in a few months I will update my environment.
    I await your response.
From already thank you very much.
    Best regards.
    Verónica.

Hi Veronica, It should still work in 3.5 as it uses BootstrapBase as a parent. Try it and let me know in the Moodle Themes Forum if there is any problems. They should be easy to fix.
Thanks...sorry this is late in answering...

    Hi Mary Evans,

    I'have this problem!

"I have upgraded from 3.2 to 3.6 Moodle version. Messages block was removed in this version https://docs.moodle.org/36/en/Messaging. Now message system is not working in Morecandy theme so no alert/notification is received from an income message."
