Educator is a simple, clean, modern, three column layout theme which can be easily customized for further enhancements.

The uniqueness of this theme is that it provides most of required editing/customization through Theme Settings only which makes it very easy to configure as per individuals branding needs even with zero % knowledge of css, html, php, coding etc.

These are the main features:

  • Custom Login page with a very clean design
  • Custom Header image gives you ability to put headers of your choice
  • Custom Logo
  • Clean front-page/home page with very nice course listing and visibility
  • Custom Menu background color
  • Custom Navigation block background color
  • Fixed width or Flexible width site layout
  • Everything is customizable through theme settings only

Now, with the launch of its new version - EducatorV4, we made this theme more easy to manage, customize, brand, configure without digging into code. Most of the customization now can be done through theme settings.

  • Header image now has a liquid heigth and width. Any size of header image can be added instead of existing one and it will automatically adjust the height of header area
  • Header image now can be directly added through theme setting with a URL path.
  • Header logo can also be added through theme settings with a URL path
  • Header background color can be changed through theme settings and now with Gradient color options.
  • Custom menu background color can also be changed from theme settings
  • Navigation block header background color can also be changed from theme settings with Gradient option
  • Option to choose between flexible width and Fixed width for site.
  • Option to switch off/on the top left hand side header logo/heading
  • Many other interesting options for editing theme are available in theme settings.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Nitin Jain

    Hi Magno,

After downloading educator.zip, extract it and copy into your Moodle platform as

    Your Moodle / Theme / Educator /

then login into your site as Administrator > go to site administration > notification > upgrade.

and it should be ready to use. you may also post your queries here:

let me know how it goes.

    thanks

    Hi Nitin!

First of all thanks for this theme!

Can you help me with some changes i wanna do for the theme? I've noticed that when i add an image it kind of 'merge' it with the background image. I mean, the images are not as clear-cut as they originally are.

I tried with the css but i could not find anything.
Hope i explained myself, i'm still learning english.

    Thanks again smile

When installing on Moodle 2.5 I get the following error in notifications "Coding error detected, it must be fixed by a programmer: Trying to reference an unknown block region side-post ". I have the latest version ( theme_educator_moodle25_2013061300) which says it is 2.5 compatible. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
There is a problem in settings.php file: two empty lines at the beginning of the file.

Normally it's not a big issue unless you're trying to bulk download all users from Moodle, say as ods file. Problem occurs even if you don't have Educator enabled.

Tested on Moodle 2.5 so far.

    Hi Grzegorz,

thanks for the suggestion. i am wondering does it really create any problem in bulk download all users? well i would also like to test it.

anyways at the same time, i will correct it in my new release.

    thanks

    Hi Nitin,
first of all thanks for this really nice theme with all it settings.
One miner issue: report.php doesn't pick up custom banner. Perhaps it's possible to organize the header like you did in fontpage.php and general.php.
    Thanks!

Hi Nitin, we made a copy of the educator so we could add a banner, and now when we try and duplicate a quiz we get the following message:

Line 162 relates to custom css

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare educator_user_settings() (previously declared in :\moodle\theme\educator\lib.php:12) in :\moodle\theme\educator_sdc\lib.php on line 162

    any thoughts?

We really like the theme..educator. Today when I logged in the center area had become smaller and the side blocks were bigger. How do I change that back to what the default was?
