Re: Theme Educator

Hi

The theme is great, so customisable.

Can I ask is it possible to chance the breadcrumb font from orange to another colour?

Also is it possible to remove the speckly background and replace with plain white?

Finally there is a sort of peachy hue on the background within the blocks, is it possible to make them white / very light grey?

My site is moodle.snmci.ie

thank you so much!

Re: Theme Educator

Hi Clair,

Thanks for appreciation.

well here are the answers to your queries:

Q. Can I ask is it possible to chance the breadcrumb font from orange to another colour?

Sol: go to theme\educator\style\educator.css > line 81 > .navbar li span {color:#ff9600;} and change the required color.

Q. Also is it possible to remove the speckly background and replace with plain white?

Q. Finally there is a sort of peachy hue on the background within the blocks, is it possible to make them white / very light grey?

Sol to both: see the similar post in the same discussion thread  - containing steps for to

1. to remove /change block content background

2. to remove /change center content background image

let me know how it goes.

Thanks

Nitin Jain

Hi Nitan

Thank you for the help.

I cant add files to the server as my moodle is on a shared space, is there a way I can use a hex code color as the background?

Also the action icons/controls in the corner of the block (when editing are on) can you please tell me what the CSS is to change the colour of the controls?

Thanks again for the theme.... and your support

Re: Theme Educator

New version is available to download now.

Now, with the launch of its new version - EducatorV3, we made this theme more easy to manage, customize, brand, configure without digging into code. Most of the customization now can be done through theme settings.

  • Header image now has a liquid heigth and width. Any size of header image can be added instead of existing one and it will automatically adjust the height of header area
  • Header image now can be directly added through theme setting with a URL path.
  • Header logo can also be added through theme settings with a URL path
  • Header background color can be changed through theme settings and now with Gradient color options.
  • Custom menu background color can also be changed from theme settings
  • Navigation block header background color can also be changed from theme settings with Gradient option
  • Many other interesting options for editing theme are available in theme settings.

Re: Theme Educator

Hi Luis,

Thanks for the feedback.

I believe you already know that you can change the logo from theme settings only.

But If you want to completely remove the logo from header then you would need to edit two files:

1. theme>educator>layout>general.php - Line 110 (to remove logo from all the pages except frontpage)

2. theme>educator>layout>frontpage.php - Line 104 to Line 106 (to remove the logo from frontpage only)

based on your preference you would need to open these files and comment/remove this code

"<div id="headerlogo"> <img src="<?php echo $logourl ?>" alt="Custom logo here" /> </div>"

You are done smile

let me know how it goes.

Thanks

Nitin

Hello Everyone,

EducatorV4 is available now. It has much more features for easy customization. Some bug fixing were also done.

  • Now we have Option to choose between flexible width and Fixed width for site.
  • We can switch off/on the top left hand side header logo/heading from theme settings itself
  • Also made some bug fixing for custom menu, front-page etc.

Keep posting your feedback suggestions.

Cheers

Re: Theme Educator

Hi,

you just need to make two changes and everything should be ok.

your moodle /theme /educator /layout /general.php > line 125

your moodle /theme /educator /layout /frontpage.php > line 119

find this line:

<div style="width:100%; position:relative;   text-align:center; float:left; margin:-78px 0 0 0;">

then replace it like this:

<div style="width:100%; position:relative;   text-align:center; float:left; margin:-32px 0 0 0;">

i have just changed -78px with -32px.

thats it.

Thanks

Re: Theme Educator

Hi Nitin Educator theme has: (1) A slightly faint red (rose) tint gradient in the background of the blocks.

(2) A slightly gray (blue) tint gradient in the background of the centre column.

How do I modify or remove the red and blue gradients? Where should I look (code)?

Re: Theme Educator

Hi Frankie,

these are background images.

1. to remove /change block content background

go to theme /educator /style /block.css > line42 > and change as you wish

.block .content {background-image:url([[pix:theme|side_menu_bg]]);

2. to remove /change center content background image

go to theme /educator /style /pagelayout.css > line124 > and change as you wish

background-image:url([[pix:theme|content_bg]]);

both side_menu_bg and content_bg are there in pix folder.

Hope this helps...

Additionally, i was looking at your screenshot and noticed you had put some slider into the course topic0, may i know what have you used here?

thanks

Re: Theme Educator
Group Particularly helpful Moodlers

Hi Nitin

Thanks for your reply.

I created slider based on the MAIN INSTRUCTIONS here:
http://gshaw0.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/how-to-add-an-image-rotator-in-moodle-2-2/

and

here: http://cssglobe.com/lab/easyslider1.7/02.html

I've made available for download the complete educator folder with the necessary slider files inside it, as well as the necessary slide images.

Download px.zip:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17797520/moodle/pix.zip
Extract pix.zip file inside the main moodle folder.
You will end up with <main moodle folder>/pix/<image files>
and
<main moodle folder>/pix/slider/<more files>

Download educator.zip:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17797520/moodle/educator.zip
The educator zip file contains the theme files (for my site with my banners and image stuff) plus the necessary slider code and files.

Lastly, I create an instance of the slider by using this HTML code inside a Moodle label resource

<div id="slider">
<ul>
<li><a href="http://templatica.com/preview/30"><img src="http://yourmoodlesite.com/pix/slider/01.png" alt="Image 01" /></a></li>
<li><a href="http://templatica.com/preview/30"><img src="http://yourmoodlesite.com/pix/slider/02.jpg" alt="Image 02" /></a></li>
<li><a href="http://templatica.com/preview/30"><img src="http://yourmoodlesite.com/pix/slider/03.jpg" alt="Image 03" /></a></li>
<li><a href="http://templatica.com/preview/30"><img src="http://yourmoodlesite.com/pix/slider/04.jpg" alt="Image 04" /></a></li>
<li><a href="http://templatica.com/preview/30"><img src="http://yourmoodlesite.com/pix/slider/05.jpg" alt="Image 05" /></a></li>
</ul>
</div>

Re: Theme Educator

Hi Nitin I have a question. At the theme settings, I entered the menu details. I notice that for Educator theme, the menu items appear a bit too bold for my liking. Also, I'd like to change the menu options' text and background colours. Where should I go to? I've already tried peeking into menu.css but I'm not sure where to edit. To see what I mean: regards Frankie

Re: Theme Educator

Hi Frankie,

for changing custom menu background, borders, text, etc..

you need to go menu.css and change these things for example:

line - 121

.yui3-skin-sam .yui3-menu-content ul.first-of-type li{

border-right:1px solid #fff;

you can add font size, etc. here

line -131

.yui3-skin-sam .yui3-menu-content ul.first-of-type li.yui3-menuitem {
    border-right:none;

this will be responsible for drop down etc..

thanks

Re: Theme Educator

Hi Roya,

There are various discussions going around on "how to change site level font".

I have tested it using google sans serif font and it works fine for me.

i followed these steps:

1. Add below line into your theme frontpage.php and general.php between<head> </head> tag

<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Source+Sans+Pro' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>

2. Then add font reference in css wherever you want.

font-family: 'Source Sans Pro', sans-serif;

thanks

Re: Theme Educator

Hi Sana,

All the theme settings are saved in mdl_config_plugins in moodle database.

One way of clearing all the saved values is

  • Login into your database using phpmyadmin
  • open table called mdl_config_plugins
  • now you need to search all row entries in plugin column which contain "educator", so for this you may use search option available for table in phpmyadmin
  • select %Like% for "plugin" option and write "educator" in the value
  • click "Go" to run the search
  • select all the entries from the result and delete them safely. here safely means you take proper backup before making any changes.

let me know how it goes..

Thanks

Nitin

Hi Nitin!

Can you help me with some changes i wanna do for the theme? I've noticed that when i add an image it kind of 'merge' it with the background image. I mean, the images are not as clear-cut as they originally are.

I tried with the css but i could not find anything. Hope i explained myself, i'm still learning english.

I cannot share the link to my site because it is a development enviroment. But i am attaching an image.

Thanks smile

2. I then logged into my site as an Administrator > go to site administration > notification > upgrade"  did every and no error message. When i login to my page, i can't see my page to display exactly what you have on your screenshot. Did i miss any step? Could you please help?

Re: Theme Educator

Hello,

I wish to congratulate you for the work you have done with Educator Theme. I use moodle in French.

I installed your theme on my test server and i have an error with your theme with accent. In fact, in the admin section, the accent in the text appears with incorrect encoding. All others sections are well displayed.

I have the feeling that Chrome doesn't recognize UTF-8 charset but ISO-8851-1 instead. The heading of the page is correct :

  <!DOCTYPE html>
  <html dir="ltr" lang="fr" xml:lang="fr">
  <head>
  <title>FL2H: Administration: Notifications</title>
  <link rel="shortcut icon" href="" />
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
  <meta name="keywords" content="moodle, FL2H: Administration: Notifications" />
  <script type="text/javascript">

I joigned of screenshoot for example. If I force UTF-8 encoding in Chrome, no more errors. No other theme do the same error.

Could you help me ?

Sincerly,

Arnaud Florentin

Does the ascent issue happen in another theme?  If so, then this indicates a language pack issue or a bug report on Chrome required.  How did you force UTF-8 in Chrome even with '<meta http-equiv="Content-Typecontent="text/html; charset=utf-8" />'?

No, this ascent issue doesn't happen with all other theme installed. It happen with internet explorer and firefox also.

Auto detect of web browser auto-detect ISO 8859-1 only in admin parts of the site.
