Mobile-first authoring tool

Create interactive content that is easily accessible on mobile, allowing students to scroll through different content types within a single activity. Designed for instructional designers and collaborative content creation, content is organized into chapters with individual elements such as text, headings, and interactive H5P elements. All elements are customizable. The separation of content, layout, and style ensures a consistent design and supports quality management. Progress tracking and activity reports help teachers and students monitor learning progress.

Element types

With a variety of element types, including Headings, Paragraphs, Rich text, Outro, and H5Ps, users can customize their content to suit their instructional needs.

This image displays some of the element types that teachers can use to create learning content using Content Designer.

Heading

Structure your content effectively with headings, ensuring clarity and organization.

Paragraph

Maintain consistent formatting and prevent unintended styling with paragraph elements.

Rich text

Enjoy the flexibility of the rich text editor to format text, insert media like images, GIFs, and videos.

Chapter

Structure your learning content using chapters to reduce the cognitive load.

H5P

Integrate interactive H5P elements into your chapters and set them as mandatory if required.

Poll PRO

Create interactive polls with customizable options and display results as a donut chart. Polls can be set as mandatory, and a detailed report within Content Designer provides insights for analysis.

Question PRO

Enhance your learning content with interactive questions from the question bank and integrate knowledge checks. Reuse existing question collections and place them anywhere within the content. The simple answering process ensures a smooth learning experience, and questions can be set as mandatory if needed.

Video Time PRO

Integrate Video Time activities as a native Content Designer element, with the option to set them as mandatory. Video descriptions and notes appear directly within the activity, while Video Time Pro (if installed) provides full tracking and reporting capabilities.

Navigation

Customize navigation through elements and chapters and add elements like an outro for activity completion.

This image shows the outro — a key element that simplifies navigation in Content Designer.

Outro

Conclude your learning units with an outro element, where you can include images (e.g. awards or points) or deliver motivational messages via a rich text editor. Create custom buttons or use prepared buttons like “next”, “back to course” or “back to section” to guide users through their learning journey.

Table of contents PRO

Include a custom introductory text and a table of contents (TOC) organized by chapter titles. Completed chapters are highlighted in green, making it easy for learners to pick up where they left off. A call-to-action button can encourage students to start or resume the activity. When paired with a background image, this creates a visually striking header. The chapter overview can be set as sticky, ensuring it stays visible while scrolling through the content.

Navigation options PRO

Define how students can navigate through the content when mandatory elements are included. With sequential navigation, mandatory elements block access to subsequent content until they are completed. Alternatively, you can enable free navigation, allowing students to access all content without restrictions.

Chapter completion modes PRO

For chapters set to manual completion, students must click ‘Mark as done’ to proceed. In automatic completion mode, a chapter is marked complete as soon as the next chapter becomes visible.

Tracking and completion requirements

Track learners' progress through courses and enforce completion requirements.

This image shows the progress bar and the mandatory element feature in Content Designer.

Mandatory options

H5P activities can be set as mandatory, requiring interaction with the content. Polls, Video Times, and Questions can also be made mandatory (requires Content Designer Pro).

Progress bar

A progress bar visually tracks completion status, updating dynamically with a green color and checkmark icon as chapters are completed. This helps learners stay engaged and on track. When returning to the activity, learners start at the top and can navigate to the desired chapter by clicking on it or using the CTA button.

Activity report PRO

It provides teachers with detailed insights into student progress and how much time they spent on the activity. A progress bar visually indicates the student’s overall progress based on completed chapters. Teachers also have the option to reset a student’s data, allowing them to restart the activity if needed. Additionally, the report can be exported.

Advanced completion conditions PRO

Reach end of content: This condition marks an activity as complete when students reach the outro element, signaling that they have completed the content.

Complete mandatory elements: With this condition, students must complete all mandatory elements within the activity or course to achieve completion. This is particularly valuable in “free” navigation mode, as it ensures critical content is covered while allowing students the flexibility to explore materials in their preferred order.
