Curriculum resources of aulaPlaneta

Among the aulaPlaneta resources there are interactive, audiovisual, texts, audios... designed to work on different concepts, skills and cognitive processes at different levels of complexity. Each resource is accompanied by a didactic proposal, which shows how it can be used in the classroom or outside it.

It is necessary that the administrator has configured the basic parameters as explained in the section "Configuring the initial parameters".

These resources may have a grade, if so it will appear in the grade book.

Setting the initial parameters

To be able to perform the configuration you must be a Moodle administrator and have Moodle installed. All Moodle blocks and activity modules developed by aulaPlaneta require an initial configuration that is done in the AulaPlaneta Resources Activity Module (mod_aulaplaneta).

Configuration of mod_aulaplaneta

An administrator user has to go to Site administration -> Extensions -> Activity modules -> aulaPlaneta. It will then display the following form:

mod_aulaplaneta

  1. aulaPlaneta's URL (LTI): Launch URL. This parameter is provided by aulaPlaneta.
  2. Consumer key can be thought of as a username used to authenticate access to the tool. It can be used by the tool provider to uniquely identify the Moodle site from which users log into the tool. This parameter is provided by aulaPlaneta.
  3. Shared Secret: The shared secret can be thought of as a secret used to authenticate access to the tool. It must be provided together with the consumer key. This parameter is provided by aulaPlaneta.
  4. Launch Container: This is the choice of how you want your ClassroomPlanet resources to look. Some launch containers provide more screen real estate for the tool, and others provide a more integrated feel with the Moodle environment.
    • Embedded, no blocks - The tool is displayed in the existing Moodle window, with only the navigation controls at the top of the page.
    • New window - The tool opens in a new window, which takes up all available space. Depending on the browser, it will open in a new tab or a pop-up window. It is possible that browsers will prevent the new window from opening.
    • Embedded - The tool is displayed in the existing Moodle window, in a similar way to most other activity types.
  5. Indicates multi-centre? is allowed or not, if Yes is selected using the first level category as the centre it will send the name of the course category, otherwise it will use the one indicated in the default name of the centre field.
  6. Default name of the school: The name of the school must be indicated. It should only be indicated if it is not a multi-centre.
  7. aulaPlaneta Web services URL: Url REST service to interact with aulaPlaneta.
  8. Obfuscate user data: If this option is ticked when calling aulaPlaneta, the user data will be sent obfuscated, so aulaPlaneta will not receive the user's name, surname and e-mail address.
  9. Centre Id: School identifier, this field will be sent in the parameter custom_school_id. This parameter is provided by aulaPlaneta.
  10. Centre URL: The site's informative URL is an optional field. If this field is left blank, the default value will be used based on the site configuration.
  11. Token de Moodle: this service allows aulaPlaneta to remotely send information to Moodle in case it has been modified or deleted. This requires a token with permissions for the mod_aulaplaneta_manage_resources function and with aulaplanetateacher:manage, aulaplanetateacher:addinstance, aulaplanetastudynot:addinstance and aulaplanetastudynot:manage capabilities. To generate the token see Moodle Token Generation. Otherwise this operation is not allowed.

Test environment

There is the option to test the connection of the REST services, to do this we go with an administrator user you have to go url /mod/aulaplaneta/test_environment.php.

Mod_aulaplaneta configuration test

This validates that there is a connection between Moodle and aulaPlaneta.

Moodle Token Generation

This token allows you to remotely update your study or teacher's notebooks. To do so, we recommend the following steps: 1. Create a new user (we have named it webservice, marking Web services authentication as authentication method). mod_aulaplaneta 2. Then we go to Site administration > Plugins >︎ Web services >︎ Manage tokens and we add the token mod_aulaplaneta 3. We assign it as Manager at system role level. mod_aulaplaneta 5. We copy this token and indicate it in the Moodle Token configuration of the aulaPlaneta plugin.

Adding an activity to a course

Once the general parameters have been configured, a teacher can add aulaPlaneta resources to a course.

The teacher must add the tool as is done for all Moodle activities/resources. Activate course editing and click on "Add an activity or resource".

Activate editing

Then the list of available activities and resources is displayed, select "AulaPlaneta - Resource" and click on "Add".

mod_aulaplaneta

The following step shows the form that allows you to choose the aulaPlaneta resource.

The basic fields are: 1. Search engine: search engine for aulaPlaneta resources to be added in Moodle. Allowing to use the filters to be able to select the resource. Clicking on "+" will select the resource. 2. Allowing you to select as many activities as you want to create, these will be created in the Moodle course as different activities. mod_aulaplaneta 3. Visible: parameter indicating whether the activity is visible to students. 4. Grade: we can indicate the evaluation scale

If we click on "Show advanced" we can add: 1. Description of the activity: it is allowed to indicate a description of the activity to be carried out. 2. Indicate if we want: - Display the description on the main page of the course. - Show the name of the activity when it is executed (not shown if opened in a new window). - Show the description of the activity when it is executed (not shown if opened in a new window).

Once the resource has been added it will be displayed in the course with the image and a text showing information about it. mod_aulaplaneta

Grade book

The aulaPlaneta resources may contain self-assessment activities, if so this resource will be available from the course gradebook.

The last grade sent by aulaPlaneta is always shown, it depends on the aulaPlaneta resource if multiple attempts are allowed or not. But you will be able to access the list of the different attempts by clicking on the detail.

Teacher's view

mod_aulaplaneta

In case a student logs in, you will have the link to review the student's attempt.

mod_aulaplaneta

In case the grade has been changed from the grade book, the original grade will be shown, if we place ourselves above it, the date of this modification will be shown.

A student will have the view
