• Much of the course format has been rewritten to provide initial official support for Moodle 4.0

Notes

Please read before upgrading, especially the notes about the lack of drag and drop and required CSS updates.

The Multitopic format 3.x, although not designed for Moodle 4.0, should work (aside from course navigation not displaying in the Boost nav bar), because Moodle 4.0 provides backwards compatibility with older course formats. Hopefully it will continue to work until Moodle 4.4, when this backwards compatibility is due to be dropped.

This version of the course format is rewritten for Moodle 4.0, so doesn't rely on the backwards compatibility (although it does still rely on the activity clipboard, which is also deprecated). This should restore course navigation in the Boost nav bar, and mostly provide the Moodle 4.0 look and feel.

However, drag and drop does not yet work, for topics, or the course navigation in the Boost nav bar, even though the course editing user tour will say it is available in the Boost nav bar. Moving topics must be done through the topic's menu.

Also CSS requires numerous updates to work with the new HTML. See CSS changes and new CSS.

There is no official way to downgrade a plugin in Moodle, so please be aware of the issues before upgrading.
