This block allows instructors to perform actions upon multiple resources or activities, rather than having to perform repeated actions on individual items.

To use this block, Javascript must be enabled in your browse and you must be in editing mode in the course home page. The user must have capability "block/massaction:use". The block should work in most course formats.

Supported actions include mass selection, indentation, deletion, hiding, showing, making available, duplicating, and moving. To select items to perform actions on, simply click the checkbox next to the activity or resource or use select functionality from the block.  Then click the action you would like to perform in the block.

If you encounter bugs or have suggestions for improvement, please use the bug tracker URL and I will work on those as quickly as possible.

    Hey Clem,

There are a few issuse when use the onetopic course format that has multiple parent sections with child sections.

    1. Bulk move activities between sections that have child sections between the transition:

A course has 5 parent sections, Section 3 and 4 have 4 child sections each (Total of 13 sections)
Move a bunch of activities from Section 1 to Section 5
These activities will be moved to a child section in section 3 instead of section 5

    2. Can't bulk move activities that are in a child section

    Thanks

Hi guys, My Apologies to Clem Smith I directly messaged and then noticed the comments section, Are there any plans to update this for 3.5? My workplace won't allow me to use it unless it is at the same version as the Moodle.

I am also wondering about 3.5. We have it installed, and it kind of works. It can take 5 minutes or more to delete even a couple of items.

Would it be possible to add activity completion options to this block? As in Select all in section (Even if it was just labels) and have the option to turn it off?

Would anyone know why Mass Actions is working on some of our courses and not others? I have checked two courses side by side and they match up in everything that I can see. One course works normally, and the other errors out when you click on the "select all in section" dropdown menu and does not display any of the topics. Additionally, if I click on a few boxes next to activities and then choose an option to, say, indent, it does not complete the action. But in the other course...it all works perfectly. It's driving us nuts!

If seen this a bunch of times and am not sure what causes it -- sometimes you can see checkboxes next to each activity in the course and then all of a sudden they stop appearing. At the stop where the stop appearing, I typically edit that Topic, make sure there's no wacky HTML in the description/title of that topics, and then that sometimes helps. You could also check our JavaScript console in the web browser to see if any error appears on that course page where it isn't fully loading.

On github, the branch master has not been updated much but moodle_34_master has been updated regularly.
Which Moodle versions are supported please.

Of those, which massaction branch should be used for 3.4? 3.5? 3.6? 3.7?

    Many thanks

I have gotten this to work in Moodle 3.6. If for some reason a topic doesn't have the select buttons on the side, if you edit the name of the topic, they will magically appear.

Hmmm, this is a fabulous tool (well done) but I'm having some issues in 3.5. I restored a mid-sized course of about 30 topics/weeks with 2-3 activities per week. I added the Mass Action block to try to re-order/organize content. It worked perfectly until I added and renamed a new topic. After that, nothing shows up in the 'Select all In Section' drop-down and obviously from there none of the still selectable items can be manipulated at all. I wonder if this helps provide any clues as to what might be underlying problems?

Further to my above comment, I now notice if I add another (unwanted) topic then the Mass Actions block seems to start working again. Something about adding/editing topics is throwing this off. Again, posting in case it's useful to the author or others.
