The Course Contacts block displays a list of users on your course and various
methods for communicating with them.

The block is highly customisable and allows you to choose specific roles which
you wish to display users from. By default the block will show teachers on the
course but this can be changed however you wish.

You can also configure which communication types you wish to show, the block
can provide quick links to Email, Message or Telephone each user.

The block also shows whether the user has been active in the last five minutes.

Potential privacy issues

This block can publish contact details for users; be careful when using it on a course with guest access enabled.

    Hello,
I have a question about firstname/lastname on block course_contacts : Sometimes, we have this kind of name (ex : Delphine ARVEN-MOUSLI). With limitations of 18 characters, this name is not correctly shown, But if I exchange the dash (-) with an underscore (_), it's ok !! How I can adjust this problem ?
    Thanks !

    Hello

i'm using your block in several courses, its very usefull, student really apreciate it. For the first time I have created separated groups in a course, But even if groups are separated i can see users profiles who are not in my groups. Is there any solutions to hide users who dont belongs to my groups (i'm using Moodle 3.5.2)
    Thanks
    Bruno

The block is designed as a course contacts block and does not currently support groups. As suggested previously, if someone would like to provide a pull request for group support, I'd be happy to review and implement it, but it is not on my road map to develop at this time.

    Richard,
Thanks for your answer? I'll pull a request, and understand that it wont be available short term.

    Hi,

I have a question, when I click the messaging button in your "course contact block" it seems to go to a the "message" page and open the side panel there.
Is it possible to open the messaging side panel on the page itself without going to the "message page" ?

You cannot install the version for 3.5 by git because that branch is missing. I have installed it on a 3.5.12+ and with the debug activated it comes out: Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$description in /var/www/moodle/blocks/course_contacts/block_course_contacts.php on line 268

I had been using this on our 3.8 site. I’ve upgraded us now to 3.10.

The block appears but no longer shows the teaching staff. It will show students perfectly fine.

I am seeing if it’s something I can manually and easily tweak, but wondering if a 3.10 update to this one was coming and when? I haven’t seen many like this and we heavily utilise the block.

Looking at the github insights page, it appears that updates are being made by Catalyst on their repo but not on this repo. Are Catalyst maintaining this plugin now? Should I switch?

Hi Mark, Catalyst are not involved in managing the plugin, this and the delays updating the plugin database are entirely on me personally, outside my role with Catalyst. I'll try to get the plugin database updated in the next few days.

Ah, apologies Mark, just seen that the Catalyst NZ team have indeed forked from my primary repo - Yes, feel free to swap, although now I'm aware of it, I will probably pull all/most of their changes across to this master as soon as I have chance.

That's cool. I knew you worked for them, so wondered if they had adopted your plugin.
