Moodle in English -> Lounge -> quick question - what's a passive forum?

Just a quickie - I am making a presentation about Moodle and I am going to use the Progression list in the docs in Pedagogy here: http://docs.moodle.org/en/Pedagogy#Progression

...number 2 is Passive forum - but I'm not sure what that means? Does it mean a news forum where somebody just posts information for students to read? Or is there more to it than that?

Hmm.. not sure whether this should be in Networking, Roles or here in QA but anyway: I am trying to get Moodle 2.0 and Mahara 1.3 networked. Having a few problems but what does work is that my users in Moodle who have been given the capablity to roam to a remote host are able to see the Network server block and click on the link to my Mahara. But I am the root admin and I can't! (I have even checked my own permissions and it says YES to mnet) I'd have thought I would have been able automatically to see the link as soon as I had set everything up. Does anyone have any idea?

Hi there. I don't have much experience of Mahoodle but I have done it successfully with 1.9 and Mahara 1.2 so I figured the settings would be similar and I know where the new bits are in Moodle 2.0..so.. I have tried this morning to link my Moodle 2.0 to my Mahara 1.3 It all looks fine except that when a user clicks on the link in Network servers to go to my Mahara they get taken to a page of my Mahara that gives out this message - does anyone have any suggestions of something obvious I have missed,  because I am inexperienced in this and could well have omitted something? Thanks

Moodle in English -> Roles and permissions -> 1.9 Parent role

I have tried the parent role before but this is the first time I am attempting to use it "in anger" as they say. I have followed the instructions in moodle docs here http://docs.moodle.org/en/Parent_role and although it seems to work as it should - it doesn't allow the parent to see the child's blog (although I have blogs set for everyone to see sitewide) nor does it let them see forum posts - in fact, it says they have none, when I know they have posted! Does anyone have any ideas? Have to tell you that usually when I ask a question instead of answer one, either I solve it myself within minutes because it was stupid and obvious - or else nobody answers me at all which makes me wonder why (and a bit lonely!) so any suggestions appreciated.
