Hi, Paul,

If you are trying to create a text resource, there won't be an editing bar in any browser. It WILL be there for the web page resource, though. That's just how the text resource is built.

If you'd like, you can use some basic HTML tags to do a little formatting, but that's about it.

Generally, you would

1. extract the files to your computer
2. upload the mod folder into the mod folder on the server
3. upload the lang files into the appropriate language folder on the server
4. visit the admin section of your site,
5. at that point, Moodle sets up the tables in the database
6. and you can go to the modules section of the admin area of your site to turn on the module

It seems that you are running your own server, so it will be even easier for you.

Off the top of my head , I think that's all.
