Hi Bente and everybody,

What I've finally understood about files in Moodle 2 is that as an ordinary teacher, I don't really need to understand what Moodle does with files behind the scene. I can make files available to students much more quickly and easily than in Moodle 1.9. I don't have to bother with first uploading them to a "Course files" area: I can directly integrate them into a Resource or activity.

To take the simplest situation: I just want students to be able access and download a bunch of files. I go to "Add a resource" and select Folder.

In the Folder, I upload files (including zip files which can be unzipped into the folder) from my computer and, if I wish, they're immediately available to students. See example folder below.

The folder and it's contents can be moved around to other courses and other Moodle platforms.

Seems dead simple to me and easy to explain to newbie teachers.

Of course, files can also be uploaded and integrated into more complex activities: quizzes, glossaries, databases, wikis, etc.

Cheers,

Glenys

Bonsoir Fabian,

Tu es sur Moodle 1.9 ou Moodle 2 ?

Pourquoi veux-tu uploader tes fichiers par FTP ? Sont-ils très volumineux ?

Cheers,

Glenys
