@Stuart,

You wrote "The H5P plugin has more functionality than the Moodle core functions introduced in Moodle 3.8."

Can you elaborate on that? Can we have a full list of those H5P functions that are present in the plugin and missing in Moodle core?

What is the rationale for this disparity?

Now we have 3 brands of H5P:

This is most confusing.surprise

Hi Valesa,

You write "I followed the instructions (https://h5p.org/moodle) and I was able to see the activity H5P.com,"

There was absolutely no need to do that. The "H5P / Interactive content" plugin is now part of Moodle. I don't know what you did but only "Interactive Content" should appear in the "Add an Activity or Resource" list, not H5P.com.

H5P.com is a repository of H5P contents which allows users not using Moodle (or WP or Drupal etc.) to create, store and use H5P content. You have to pay for it.

If you use Moodle, as you found out, you simply create your H5P contents as you would create any other standard Moodle activity (Lesson, Quiz questions, etc.).

In the "Add an Activity or Resource" list, when you select Interactive content, I think it's misleading that the "More help" points to the H5P website rather than to the Moodle docs at https://docs.moodle.org/38/en/Interactive_Content_-_H5P_activity.

I do agree that all this is not as straightforward as it might be, but I hope you will enjoy using the wide range of H5P activities. Personally I think their strong point is in practising, not testing, so the lack of reporting does not bother me.

Not sure if this buggy behaviour is due to H5P or Moodle Mobile App or my brand of smartphone, but here is the story.

On my Moodle test site I have created a sample Dialog Cards activity, "re-used" from the H5P website examples.

  • You can view it here: http://www.rezeau.org/moodle/
  • log in as student01, as instructed
  • go to Test Course 1
  • in the H5P activities section, click "Dialog Cards - Learn Spanish berry names".
  • Test it by clicking the Turn, the Previous and Next buttons etc.

Now test it in the Moodle Mobile App if you have installed it on a tablet or a mobile phone.

Here are my findings:

  • Samsung Galaxy tab S2 tablet : works as expected
  • Samsung Galaxy A50 mobile phone: Only the Previous and Next buttons work. The Turn button does not work!

Before I report this in the Moodle bug tracker (or/and the H5P tracker), I would need more tests, on different kind of tablets & phones.

Looking forward to your participation. Please give all the relevant details of your device!

Joseph
