Hi,
I'm about to publish my first professional moodle site. I got two things that i'de like to accomplish before publishing my site.
Here is what i'd like to do :

Does any one knows if there's a plugin/gadget that can let me knows instantly when someone is logged in in my moodle site?
I mean something similar to the "online users" block, but that works like a google or windows gadget (application).
Any ideas?
I would be very interested too, to know how i can interact with my online users:
sending instant message to an online user that appears in its screen while (s)he's online, without having to enter in any chat or forum.

Many thanks

Hi Hassani,

You might want to have a look at the MSG (instant messenger) system we've integrated into Moodle on our OpenLearn website (see: http://openlearn.open.ac.uk). To test it our properly you'd need to register (for free) on the site, you should then be able to see how new messages appear etc.

It might not be exactly what you want/need, but it seems quite close - users are automatically logged into MSG when they log in to OpenLearn and new IMs appear within Moodle (so don't need seperate chat app/window open to receive IMs)

More info, (and how to set up an OpenFire/MSG server and integrate into your moodle) is available here: http://kmi.open.ac.uk/technologies/msg/developer/ all the software/code is open source too.

Cheers,
Alex
