I want to be able to use one that allows students to have a journal but I don't see it currently in the version I have. Thanks

Available in any version of Moodle:

  1. login as admin
  2. open the eye for the journal module (standard switched off)
  3. paste in every section of your course a journal page for your students
  4. a student can write down reflections in the privat journal pages
  5. the teacher can comment on it
  6. If a student opens one journal-page, he/she can click in the navigation bar to get an overview of all the privat journal pages

Good Luck

That's a great answer, however it doesn't answer the question "How do I figure out which version of Moodle I am using?"

Hi, I think clicking on Site administration->Server->Environment would do the trick.

Hope this answers that!

You have to ask your administrator.

I think it would be helpful to provide a way for non-administrative users of Moodle to find out what version of Moodle they are using.

For example, as a course instructor, I just tried to use the online Moodle documentation to figure out how to get Moodle to display letter grades.  The documentation indicates that the answer depends on which version I'm using.  I don't think I should have to contact my site administrator in order to figure out which set of online documents I should consult for help.

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

You're right: it's a pain for teachers. The version used to be visible at the bottom of every Moodle site but that was a security risk. Seems to me to there should be a way of easily making the version visible to teachers and other trusted users of a Moodle site. You could either ask your Admin to create a local solution or put it in the Tracker to get (hopefully) a global one.

Cheers,

Glenys
