Error msg after Forum post

I'm getting this error message sometimes when someones posts to the fourm.  I'm not a programmer but obviosuly something is wrong.  Cna someone point me in the right direction?

Notice: Undefined property: assesstimestart in /home/sewingim/public_html/mod/forum/lib.php on line 2296

I am also having an error message when someones posts to the fourm.
Mine states:
"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3 SELECT p.parent FROM mdl_forumtt_posts p WHERE p.id ="

I have no clue as to the fix.

We have the students in the forums now... but all as one group.
