I have a lesson, and in the middle of the lesson is a 'quiz' of sorts. It's a mix of multiple choice questions and short answer. The responses to short answer show just fine, but not the multiple choice. Instead, it shows no clicks. Yet, a student has to choose something in order to proceed, so I know they're choosing an answer.
I have no idea what is wrong or how to fix it. Ideas?
Oh my ____. This is getting worse and worse. I went through the lesson, made sure every step pointed explicitely at the next step, and it still goes to whatever questions it wants to, skipping others. This is completely destroying the lesson, and making things very difficult for the students. Moodle should not be this difficult to make work.
So does no one who has knowledge of these modules actually check these forums?

What are your settings for Action after correct answer? Do you have a cluster in your lesson?
I'm attaching the lesson in question, so you can see the navigation. Who knows, maybe I've stared at it too long and am missing something obvious. I've cut out the middle group of questions to make the file small enough. But usually, the lesson doesn't hit question 1, it'll skip to question 6 or something. It's so beyond odd.

I am sort of the resident New User. I am just getting back into gear after a wonderful vacation (all too short) in Firenze. The gateway detail was interesting.
I also would first point my finger at the clusters and then double check my update lesson settings. There could be a bug in the 1.7 lesson code you are using but I would not take any bets on that.
You said it usually did not reach the first question. The first question is a numeric question that is placed before the cluster start in the "logical order" (teacher edit view mode order). This would indicate lesson setting flow control issue, not a cluster issue. But something might have gotten lost in the transcription to this forum, so here is more info.
I would get my hands dirty and delete every cluster and end of cluster page in the lesson. Does it still jump around when you use a student login? Works fine, then See MoodleDocs on clusters.
If it still acts weird then you probably have a lesson setting (check flow control area again) problem. See MoodleDocs on Flow Control and Lesson settings.
My golden rule, "crawl, walk, run". Create a straight line mini lesson. KISS. Don't invest a lot of energy in it. 10 pages, start with a couple of branch pages, don't put in any jumps or descriptions. Put in MC or T/F questions , with "right", "wrong", "real wrong", "wild". Don't bother with custom scoring. Wrong answers stay on this page, the correct answer is always the first one and it goes to next page. End with a couple of branch pages. You should advance right through the lesson. Then do a backup of the lesson. Next throw in a start cluster and end cluster.
If that does not work, email me (see my profile) a copy of a backup of your lesson, without students. I will throw it into one of my localhosts and give it a look. You don't appear to be doing anything complicated. It has to be something simple like you suspect.

Not absolutely positive but I would look at your lesson settings. The Action after a correct answer will over ride any jumps you have assigned.

Sorry, I was called away and Moodle.org timed me out after I had not solved your problem about MC questions.
In review I created a lesson with B, Q1, C, Q2, Q3, Q4, EC, B as page types.
On Q2, I deleted answer1 (correct answer), but left the other 3 answers. I left jump1 to next page. When student did the lesson, they reached Q2, I it offered them 3 answers. When I went back as teacher, the 3 wrong answers had moved up ! Never seen that before.
I then deleted all answers in Q2. The student never saw the question. When I deleted the cluster and end cluster, set the lesson to show the default response, the student saw a continue button after the question and went to Q3. When I said no to default response, my student still got the continue button.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try them out in the next few days. At this point, I have a workaround so it isn't as pressing. But I want to figure it out for the next group. Thanks!
