Moodle does not detect GD, and GD does not appear in the config command, (as displayed by phpinfo). I assumed its not there and followed moodle's link to GD and installed it.
Moodle still does not detect GD. Should I add a line to php.ini? If so what? or do I have to manually reinstall PHP?
I'm running on a VPS with
Redhat 9
PHP 4.3.3
WHM installed
CPanel installed
I've looked through the forums, there was lots of info but I couldn't relate it to my problem.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to recompile your PHP from sources with the option --with-gd. See http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=4454#20081 for further details.
