Group work in Workshop

Group work in Workshop

I want a number of students to work in 3 groups to prepare a report and submit it in a workshop activity.

How can I customize moodle workshop to allow each group (and not each student) to submit 1 report on behalf of its members?  What I want is to have the allocated submission (referred to with an orange arrow in the image below) to be restricted to the number or groups; if I have 3 groups the submitted reports has to be 3 only one per group.

It's one of the most requested features for the Workshop but unfortunately it has not been implemented yet sad See and add your vote to MDL-35594

For those who might be interested, we developed some Workshop enhancements at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) some years ago. This included a teams mode. Some background can be found in this paper:

We also introduced a CSV upload for setting reviewers, and a reviewer calibration feature, like that used in Calibrated Peer Review (CPR).

These features, and other newer enhancements, are still in use at UNSW.

Cheers!

Hi Sara

I realize this reply is a bit late.  I've been using Workshop for group assignments for many years now.  Unfortunately, the assessment/review must still be done by individual students but it seems to work well.  The instructions have been developed over the past two years and I've attached them here.

Richard, I was searching for exactly this. Found the answer in 5 min thanks to your post. Will run the final project of a course, BTW a workshop, according to your instructions. I have run the Workshop module only once or twice, for individual work. Expecting more hurdles - but they are fun!

Your contribution is a show-case example of the sharing culture in the Net. Many thanks!
