Can you use csv file for allocation on Workshop activity?

Yeah, the manual allocation will allow you to allocate submissions one-by-one. Or you can use the random allocation first and then modify it using the manual allocation. It is a known drawback that the manual allocation has to be done only after there are actual submissions. Ideally, the teacher should be able to define all these things in advance.

CSV allocation would be a nice subplugin for Workshop - https://moodle.org/plugins/?q=type:workshopallocation But I don't think it is easily doable at the moment.

I have used it for students to rate others within their own group, so that is possible. I used the 'Separate groups' setting to enable this.

Possibly, using the 'Visible groups' setting might enable students to see their own and other groups. The 'Prevent reviews by peers from the same group' setting (below) suggests they will.

But I don't know how to make sure that there are specific numbers allocated from specific groups. Sorry I can't help with that.

Some more background: I want to have 3 groups/themes of students for this presentation assignment, each student peer assessing one more from their group and 2 from each of the other two. The idea is they will see 2 presentations from each theme.

I think the Groups function would allow me to allocate students from the other groups but not from their group.

I think the Manual allocation with a csv file should be a standard function of Moodle. Maybe it is, and I don't know it.

I'm not sure what exactly you want to do, and I don't know about importing CSVs - but you can use Groups in Workshop, and that might help you?

Hi. I'm setting up a workshop activity, where the student submissions are peer-assessed by multiple students in a large class. For the peer-assessment exercise, the options given for allocation are "random allocation" and "manual allocation". The random allocation is not flexible enough for what I want to do. I can't see how the manual allocation works before I have submissions. I suspect you will have to apply it to all students one-by-one. So it would be great if I could use a csv file to import the allocation.

Is there a Moodle expert that could tell me whether it is possible to use a csv file or not? Has anyone tried this before?

The module is currently running so any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Uploading a reviewed document in the workshop tool

Hello,

In the "Workshop" tool it is possible to upload a document as the initial submission. Is it also possible for the reviewer to upload documents in the assessment phase?

To clarify my question I will describe what we plan to do:

In our course, we want the students to peer-review their essays. We plan to use the "Workshop" tool. Instead of writing a feedback statement, we want the students to leave comments directly in the text document. So the workflow would be:

Student upload their essay
reviewer is assigned by the tool
student downloads and reviews the assigned paper
student uploads the reviewed paper
reviewed essay can be downloaded by the initial author

I am unsure if step 4 and 5 are possible with this tool and the moodle tutorials could not really help me to answer these question. Has anyone experience with this or a suggestion for a workaround?

I just tried to replicate on my 4.4 site, but I'm not sure i'm experiencing it.

I added a new workshop activity, I selected only "File attachment" under Submission types, and under the "Example Submissions" setting, I enabled it with "...voluntary" as the mode then saved.

Once I set up the Assessment form and returned, I was then able to click Add an example submission. I uploaded a PDF, gave it a title, and clicked Saved changes (and graded it) I do still see the file. I repeated so I do have 2 visible. I've added a picture -- is what you see here what is missing for you?

Workshop decluttering for students - thoughts & feedback

I've spent some time listening to feedback from staff about Workshop -- there's so much 'stuff' there that it needs a lot of decluttering. I'm posting what I've done so far, and invite feedback or ideas on what you may have done or thought about doing.

Phase 1: Setup

I hate to have done this, but we decided to hide the details of each phase. Though it contains important information and useful, we've decided to hide it entirely so the students just see the phase they are on and can rely on the existing "Description" area to get all the info they need to start (though it doesn't remain there as the phases progress). We also debated showing all 4 dates (both open and both close) but decided the 2 "close" is the more important dates to show.

Phase 2: Submission

We moved the "Add Submission" button down below the Your Submission section to help better connect the two things.

Once a student submits, their name was clickable - we removed that hyperlink so the only important link is a link back to their submission. We're debating if we want to break the links for the two toggle sections...

Phase 3: Assessment

Here's where I got overwhelmed and not sure of the best approach. By default, there are 8 different links a student can click on when the Assessment phase begins. My goal is to only have 2 clickable links.

So far, I have removed the 2 links for the student's "Name" in the image below.
3 links are actually Toggles. My plan is to make the Toggles black, hide the icon, and give it a pointer-event of "None" so they cannot close it, I just don't know if that will make issues with keyboard navigation. Then that would leave 3 more links - the submission file name, the assigned assessment file name, and the Assess button.
My next though is to guide the student to that Assess button by breaking the link to the assigned assignment file name, but I don't know what the difference is between the file title and the button. My guess is after they provide their assessment, maybe that file name link is their only way back to see their the assessment they provided.

Interested in thoughts or if you have done anything similar you wish to share.
