Hi

I want to use an external database for identification and enrollment purposes. The problem that I have it's that I need that students automatically must be assign to a group depending on information in the database.

I have been looking for information and it appears that there is a tracker https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-58785 working to include it in Moodle core, but it is not still ready

Any of you have faced this issue? How have you resolved it?

If you could set it up as an ldap connection, there is the ldap syncing scripts plugin that does that. I am presuming that you mean assign to a cohort? Or if you are talking about groups in a course there is the autogroup plugin that will create groups from a profile field.

Thanks for your answer.
I am thinking in groups more than in cohorts. I have reading about the plugin auto group but my problem is that any student could be enroll in different courses and then in different groups in each of this courses.
I will hav a look to LDAP connection to check if it could be my solution
