Context freeze still experimental?

We are running 3.6.7, where Context Freeze is still regarded as "experimental". Yet, at the Barcelona global moot in November Context Freeze was talked about like it was something that could be used.

  • What's the status on this great feature in v 3.7 and v3.8?
  • Is anyone using it successfully on their production site? Any traps you walked into?

This has information about the current issues: https://docs.moodle.org/38/en/Context_freezing
I've not tried it yet, but it adds an additional link of "Freeze Context" on every edit menu.

Sorry to dig this post up again. I've reviewed the current issues. Can I just check with others an issue I am having using context freezing (3.8.4). It works as expected but if I freeze a category, is it not possible to unfreeze a course within that category, and if so, how?

There is no option within a courses' setting, where the "freeze context" option is/would be if the category is not frozen.

This was my experience too Diane.
You would have to unfreeze the category and freeze the courses within and leave others unfrozen.
