I'm rather new to moodle and trying to get a new moodle 3.5 instance on ubuntu to talk to a microsoft server 2019 AD for authentication.
I installed PHP ldap (7.2)
I've tried the Moodle plugin for ldap and ldap sync.
I've made sure global catalog is on.
I've increased the page size on windows to 2000.
I looked at the example config and tried something similiar for my own settings.
The error I get when I try to test settings is :
LDAP paged results not supported (either your PHP version lacks support,
you have configured Moodle to use LDAP protocol version 2 or Moodle
cannot contact your LDAP server to see if paged support is available.)
When I don't use a bind account it says test successful, however I can't login then.
Not using TLS at this time to reduce complexity.
I've got password set to plaintext, but have tried the other two. LDAP encoding is utf-8. Type is Microsoft AD. The context is copied from AD for the area the moodle users are located in AD.
User attribute is samaccountname.
