Course enrol confirmation stopped sending teacher emails

Hi there, I wondered if anyone could assist. We've been using Course enrol confirmation plugin for a very long time and experienced no glitches so far. All of a sudden, teachers stopped receiving notifications upon a request. I am not quite sure but it seems to me like this had changed when we've upgraded to Moodle 3.5.3. Students requesting the approval receive all emails without problem.

No configuration changes have been made to the plugin. No changes to the system that could affect the notification as far as I'm concerned. All system email notifications work normally. Emails don't end up in spam, nor they are blocked by FW. Notifications are enabled within the plugin configuration. Respective teachers are marked to be notified. These accounts have teacher permissions including enrol/apply:manageapplications on both Site and Course level. The plugin is up to date. I don't know where else to look. Thank you!
