Please can someone explain the difference between full integration with SIMs and lite integration? At the moment I'm wondering if we need full integration when we don't use all aspects of this, but want to know if it's possible to run a large school site with just the lite integration. We're currently running version 2.9.

I'm guessing this is about integrating with a Student Information Management System, like OpenSIS or similar? That's what I gathered from this page, at least: https://www.webanywhere.co.uk/education/moodle-sims-integration.
In any case, this sounds like something a Moodle partner could be of assistance in, as this sounds like quite a complex integration. Since you're still running 2.9 (no active support or security fixes), I'd also recommend you consider upgrading your Moodle to a more recent version > Moodle 3.1.
Also, start by putting on paper use cases or stories on how you'd want the data to be exchanged between your SIMs and Moodle. This will provide with a starting point for the decision.
