Hi,
I'm working with a Moodle 2.5 site in which I need to have a quiz with some optional questions. After looking around a bit, I found the following answer on which I based my test:
https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=241291#p1047806
However, it seems that either I'm still missing a step, maybe like enabling or disabling some setting somewhere, or I'm misundertanding how this works because I'm not getting the result I expected.
I prepared a reference image, please check it (it opens in a new window).
So here is what I did:
- I made a quiz with four essay questions. All of them are set with a mark value of "1" for a maximum grade of "10" (see image, areas 1 and 2).
- Given that two of the questions are to be optional, I went to the grade setting page and set the multiplicator to a value of "2" (see image, areas 3 and 4).
- Made an attempt at the quiz, answering only two questions.
- Finally graded the quiz giving the answered questions a 1 mark grade (and leaving ungraded the unanswered ones).
I though that after this I would end up with a 10.0/10.0 final grade, not the 5.0/10.0 I got (see image, area 5), which is what I would get in a normal situation without the multiplicator.
Thanks beforehand

I did try using the regrade option, just in case.
