I use to use the latest Moodle version, but at the moment I am on 3.1.4+ which I updated last weekend. So I was a bit surprised getting a notification this morning telling me that a new version is ready. I mean, why tell me once a week something I already know, of course there is an newer version while I do not use the latest? Is there a way to avoid unnecessary notifications like this?
The update notifications normally only come out when they address security issues.
The notifications I receive is the ones from my Moodle according to moodleroot/message/defaultoutputs.php. It does not seem to be possible to opt out notifications about new versions.
