Quick question on 'Allow EMBED and OBJECT tags'

Quick question on 'Allow EMBED and OBJECT tags'

Hi,

Does 'Allow EMBED and OBJECT tags' only affect student submissions in text based assignment submissions. I noticed I can still embed objects in Announcements and Assignment descriptions as a admin/teacher. I can even embed an object in a forums post when 'logged in as' a student account.

What areas does this site policy affect, or is it really just for assignment text submissions?

Thanks,
Joe M.

Anyone? I've tested this is several areas of the site and my idea seems to be the case, if anyone knows for sure I would really appreciate it.

It affects any text input in the editor by a normal (non-admin) authenticated user.

But this site policy refers only to embeds in the strict sense: manually entered html code with explicit <embed> or <object> tags.

It does not refer to or prevent any other types of things we loosely call "embeds", such as iframes, HTML5 code, or any type of media handled by one of the media players or other filters.

So, unless you have people entering html manually such as

<object width="800" height="600" data="myantiqueflashgame.swf"></object>

you don't need to and should not enable it.
