"Dashboard" link back to "My Home"

Hi all,

I am running two versions Moodle at the moment which are showing two links to the 'Homepage' for the student. One says "Dashboard" 3.1.2+ (Build: 20161102) and the other "My Home" 2.8.2+ (Build: 20150115). I would like to retain the link "My Home" as it will be more meaningful for my students, can anyone tell me if:

  1. This has been customized in the older Moodle site? or..
  2. Is this a change due to Moodle version? ... and
  3. How can i change it back if possible?

Any info would be fantastic!

Thanks

Leticia

You can change "Dashboard" to "My Home" via the language pack but you must have server access to do this.

Connect to your server via ssh or control panel. Navigate to the /lang/en directory of your moodle install and edit the my.php file.  Change

$string['mymoodle'] = 'Dashboard';

to

$string['mymoodle'] = 'My Home';

then Save.

Hi Leticia,

'My home' was renamed to 'Dashboard' in Moodle 2.9 onwards.

You can change it back within Moodle via Language customisation.

Nice. I did not know that. That wasn't there before in our previous install.
