Show correct answers after first try in quiz

Show correct answers after first try in quiz

I have a series of quizzes in which the students are allowed two tries at the quiz. If they don't get a 100% on the first try they have a chance to take it a second time.

I would like to set up theses quizzes so that after they take the quiz the first time they do not see the correct answers (obviously), but after they have taken the quiz the second time, they will see the correct answers--even if the quiz hasn't "closed" yet..

If I tick the option in the "Review Options" that says "Immediately after the attempt": Right Answer, they will see the correct answer even after the first try. That's not what I want, so I leave it unticked.

Likewise, if I tick the same option ("Right Answer") in the "Later, while the quiz is still open" section, they will also see the correct answer after the first try. That won't work either.

If I tick that option in the "After the quiz is closed", that will work, but I want then to be able to not have to wait to see the correct answers. I want them to see the correct answer immediately after they take the quiz the second time.

So, basically, what I want is for the student to see the answers after the second try but not before that.

How can I set this up?

Been a while since I last tried to do this but I would do it with two, duplicate quizzes.

First quiz is set to be taken only one time, with all the review settings turned off, and activity completion set to, Student must receive a grade to complete this activity. Also set Restrict access so the second test Must not be marked complete and with it's eye turned off.

Second quiz also set to be taken only one time, but with the review settings such that the student can see the right answers. Set Restrict access such that quiz 1 must be marked complete and with the eye turned off. This will make it so students don't see the second quiz until after they take the first one.

If I haven't made a mistake, when students first enter the course they will only see quiz 1. After they take it, quiz 2 will become visible and quiz 1, while visible, is not accessible in any productive way. Once the student takes quiz 2, both quizzes will be visible but only 2 can be reviewed.
