Moodle not accessible on local area network

I did all the steps mentioned for installing moodle on ubuntu.

Moodle is accessible from my machine as : http://localhost/moodle/ 

However, from another machine on the LAN , this : http://myipaddress/moodle/ , it says this url is only accessible as localhost/moodle.

Editing config.php and setting the wwwroot parameter did not help.

What am I missing? Is this a common problem? Please help.

Which tutorial did you follow?

Post the line with wwwroot here.

What happens if you put a test.html file in the same directory as Moodle's config.php and visit http://myipaddress/moodle/test.html in another computer?
