Problems with installation after setting up admin account

I have made multiple attempts to download Moodle 2.8.??. I am not a computer person (i.e. programmer, developer, etc.). I am able to get to the point of setting up the administration settings. The program then automatically goes to http://localhost/user/editadvanced.php. The problem is when I get here, it is just a blank page. You cannot type anything. The page does not give me information. It is just a white, blank, page. Help please!

What happens if, once you get to http://localhost/user/editadvanced.php, you then change the URL in your browser to http://localhost ? Does it take you to the front page where you can perhaps turn on the editing and acess some stuff? (I am only asking  because, as a non-techie person, I have in the past installed Moodle locally and also found that page giving me a blank but then when I have gone to a different page, I was able to continue.) Not a good answer,I know, but worth a try !

Try deleting the cache folders in your moodledata folder and see if that fixes it.

In addition to what Emma said, as well delete the "localcache" folder, as sometimes just deleting the "cache" folder doesn't work.

and dont worry about deleting the folders, as soon as you hit refresh button in browser, they will automagically re-appear.

Hi Christie Weidenhamer ,

Yesterday I have same issue. But I have fixed this issue.

First of all please check your max_execution_time in your php.ini.

1) Go to xampp/php/php.ini - open this file

2) check and set  the max_execution_time=0 (0 means unlimited.)

3) Restart your system or your xampp control panel services.

if you beginner in php please restart the system.

4) Then create new DB and give a new moodledata path while installation time.

5) Again install the moodle i hope now your moodle will work.

Please set the max_execution_time.
