Grade item names in gradebook go across and don't stack down with one name per line. What happens is you end up with a very large horizontal gradebook.
For instance: instead of "book report on Plato" why can't the heading be:
Book
Report
On
Plato
Seems like this would be far more practical. Other online grade books are like this.
