No hints on interactive with multiple tries quiz when using comma on NM

Hi moodleverse,

Not sure if this is a bug or deliberate. Or even how to report it if it is the former. 

I'm using Moodle 2.8. The learners are all in the same group.  The questions are cloze questions using the :NM: tag.

If requiring a comma as decimal marker in the answer (as opposed to a full stop), the quiz does not show hints (using interactive with multiple attempts). The quiz instead regards the use of the comma as "incomplete" even though it will mark this answer as correct or incorrect on deferred feedback. 

Is there a way to fix this?

This is a known bug MDL-49251 "Incomplete subanswers in Cloze question does not show their incomplete state"

which is on the drawing board...

Hi Pierre (and the moodle-verse),

Do you know if there is a local work-around to this problem or any other solution you might be able to suggest? 

I've read through MDL-31889 and MDL-33105 which I also think have some relation and it looks like a very complex issue. If I'm interpreting part of the problem correctly, we would never use a decimal comma as a thousand separator, so I was wondering if this would create an opportunity to fix the issue on our local site?
