User name under Last Post does not show

An authenticated user can see the Last Post column with the date and time, but there isn't a user name included with that info. If I am logged in as the admin, I do see it. My users would like to see that from the list view versus going into each discussion.

I don't know if this is the best approach, but when I set it up, I changed the permissions, allowing the authenticated user to add discussions, reply, and some others. I don't see any permissions that relate to the user who last posted.

Is this a permission, a setting, or a problem?

Thanks Mary! That was fast (your reply)!

Has this change been deployed?

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on it. Before your post, I actually created my account finally, for Moodle Tracker. I'm still very new and getting acclimated. I had posted an issue regarding the viewing of comments (even though the permission was revoked, they can still view). So we'll see what happens there.

Since I got my new server last month, I've been setting up Moodle 2.7.2, but now I'm seeing that we are at 2.8.1. When this change is deployed, will I just download a new set of code, remove what I have, and drop the new code in? I made changes to various things such as icons and a few other visual tweaks so I'd want to preserve that.

Is there a place that describes the process of upgrading while preserving changes made at the Moodle code level? Also, the Moodle data folder - do I need to do anything with that?

Hello Daniel  -sorry for not replying sooner -I'm not a technical person so I can't advise on upgrading but there is some documentation here https://docs.moodle.org/28/en/Upgrading_to_Moodle_2.8 and you will get some very good support in the Installation forum also.
