Timed Quiz problem in 1.9.9+

Some 20 students just took a timed quiz for 2 hours & 20 minutes. No problems with students who had submitted their responses within the time limit.

Some students had not completed the quiz and now for some students, moodle shows that the quiz is still open.

For a few students, it shows that the quiz ended after 2 hours & 20 minutes but all answers are missing and the students have a ZERO mark.

How do we recover the tests that seem to be somewhere out there? Have a lot of very upset students and need some fast help.

Almost impossible to say without more information about what happened.

If the data is in the database, this query explains who you can get at it. http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Question_database_structure#Following_what_happens_when_questions_are_attempted . If the data is not in the database, it is not anywhere.

Moodle 1.9.9 was released in June 2010 http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Releases#Moodle_1.9. Moodle 1.9.19 was released two years later, and contains many bug fixes, but is now no longer supported. There are several supported versions of Moodle available. If you care about your data, you really ought to have an upgrade plan in place.
