Hello, I'm new to Moodle, I'm looking for a way to have the students as a group communicate with their teacher in private group, 

the communication is by posting picutres, comments, topics, exactly like: http://www.jomsocial.com/ or facebook.

Is that possible to have that done with moodle? can I create public and private groups and add the users to it. depending on the class.

Hi Khalid,
if you want to replicate a "social" environment take a look at Joomdle: there, JomSocial has been integrated.

Otherwise, Moodle can manage most of the described features by its own but some "social" key points like the Activity Stream.
