Mary et al., I'm having a similar problem and have scoured the forums but haven't found a solution. We've recently installed 2.6. Up until recently, everything was seemingly fine but now only managers can create activities or resources within a course. Teachers only see "edit" and do not see the drop downs within topics for activities and resources or option in the main menu block. This problem is confirmed if I (as site admin) switch roles or log in with a teacher dummy profile.
I have tried:
Checking the permissions
Reseting the teacher, course creator, and manager permissions to default
Removing the code in the config file that defaulted block positions in the courses
Checking groups to see if it's on (It's not)
Turning off AJAX
Reconfiging the Main Menu block to appear in different spots throughout the system
Changing the theme (Nonzero currently) to standard
Checking to see if any permissions overrides are in the categories (Aren't any)
Tried creating courses in different and outside of categories (no effect)
Checking the Manage Blocks table to see if anything seemed amiss. (It doesn't)
Turning on Debugging- No error messages in either Manager or Teacher Profiles
Out of ideas. Any help with this? I've seen several postings on the subject (such as here and here) en anglais (je ne l'ai pas encore cherché en français).
